Began playing the Shakuhachi (traditional Japanese end-blown flute) at the age of 12, studying under his father, Tadashi Tajima.
Education: Graduated from the Department of Traditional Japanese Music, majoring in Shakuhachi, at the Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai) in 2006.
University Post: Served as an assistant in the Department of Traditional Japanese Music at Tokyo Geidai from 2009 to 2012.
Award: Received the New Artist Award at the 69th Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Arts Festival for his first solo recital in 2014.

12歳より尺八を始め、父である田嶋直士(たじまただし)に師事。2006年 東京藝術大学邦楽科尺八専攻卒業。2009年～2012年 東京藝術大学邦楽科助手。2014年 自身初のリサイタルで第69回文化庁芸術祭新人賞受賞。「ゆる人」総監督、「田嶋謙一記念歌劇団」団長、「日本尺八演奏家ネットワーク(JSPN)」理事、「和楽器オーケストラあいおい」会員、「The Shakuhachi ５」メンバー。「日本三曲協会」「鎌倉三曲協会」「逗子三曲協会」会員。
