Yuji Sawamura

澤村祐司

Studied under Chieko Kanazu. Graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai) and completed his graduate studies at the same university. He is engaged in performing classical pieces and also in composition and arrangement.

He received the Highest Rank at the Yatsuhashi Kengyō Japanese Music Competition and the Excellence Award at the Kumamoto National Japanese Traditional Music Competition. He held recitals in 2015 and 2018.

He composed the school song for Kumamoto Prefectural Matsubase Nishi Special Needs School.

He participated in the original stage productions “Amenimo Makezu” and “HAGOROMO,” directed and choreographed by Reijiro Tsumura and Kaiji Moriyama, which were restaged across Japan.

He holds the title of Shihan (Master) of the Miyagi Kai (Miyagi School of Koto music). He is the representative of VOICE SPACE (Poetry and Music organization) and the Vice Representative of the Braille Music Score Users’ Liaison Council. He serves as a lecturer at the University of Tsukuba Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired.

金津千重子に師事。東京藝大を経て同大学院修了。古典等の演奏の他作編曲にも取り組む。八橋検校日本音楽コンクール最高位、くまもと全国邦楽コンクール優秀賞。2015年18年リサイタル開催。熊本県立松橋西支援学校の校歌作曲。津村禮次郎、森山開次演出振付による、創作舞台「雨ニモマケズ」、「HAGOROMO」に参加、全国各地で再演。宮城社師範。詩と音楽のVOICE SPACE代表。点字楽譜利用連絡会副代表。筑波大学附属視覚特別支援学校講師。
